Road Signs
The series ROADSIGNS is based on abandoned road signs, which I found on London streets. I took the discarded, beaten up signs to a Formula 1 race car spray shop. The front of the signs has been sprayed with opalescent car lacquer whereas the backs have not been touched. I didn't alter the shape and the bending of the pieces. What intrigues me is the sharp contrast between the pockmarked metal on one side and the subtle opalescent surfaces on the other with their shimmering ever-changing imagery subject to light and the movement of the viewer.
