Road Sign, Purple 120 x 140 cm, 2007

FIRST MOMENT OF TRUTH, installation view, MOT international, London Oct - Nov 2007

The driver jumps back into his cab and starts to reverse the lorry, back down the road. Checking his wing mirror he notices an Evening Standard billboard "Cigarettes Beer Wine Up". There is a crunch and a slight bump as he reverses over a road sign left out in the street. The world is full of signs and a cacophony of texts struggle to grab our attention. But what happens if we move beyond the first moment of truth and into a contemplative space, where an object's story unfolds and teaser bills become poetry?
